The TransCare Electrolysis Centre

Some of you may have been aware that Clear Clinic’s owner Caroline Barrow also worked as the Electrologist at The London Transgender Clinic, until it’s closure in December 2023.

The London Transgender Clinic was a unique facility that offered many different services to the Transgender community all under one roof. One of these services was the use of Local anaesthesia during Electrolysis appointments for Gender Reassignment surgical donor site preparation. The London Transgender Clinic was the only clinic in the UK able to offer this service, its closure affected both the staff and the patients deeply.

Clear Clinic is so happy and proud to launch The TransCare Electrolysis Centre to continue the Electrolysis program, previously offered by The London Transgender Clinic.

Many Gender Reassignment Surgery surgeons require Electrolysis to be completed on the donor site, this is the only way to ensure that the area remains hair free post-surgery. Whilst we do offer post-surgery Electrolysis, it can be very difficult to remove hair from internal areas and can also can be the source of mental distress for the client.

The TransCare Electrolysis Centre is based at a CGC registered medical facility in central Kent, which is nurse staffed at all times. The facility nurses administer the anaesthetic and monitor clients, whilst Caroline Barrow will continue with the Electrolysis treatment. The appointment schedule will follow a similar pattern to The London Transgender Clinic, and this will be discussed with potential clients during their consultations.

Caroline will work with patients based on the advice and templates given to them by their Gender Reassignment surgeons.

The TransCare Electrolysis Centre are able to offer an additional service which is facial or body Electrolysis, with either local anaesthesia injections or dental block depending on client needs, we can also combine Gender Reassignment Surgery prep with local anaesthetic followed by facial work without anaesthetic if required. The use of local anaesthetic especially for areas such as the top and bottom lip can make a huge difference to client comfort and results.

Our new clinic is in a private location and has good transport links from Victoria with no changes, as well as free parking on site and good motorway links.

We can provide either face to face or video consultations to assess each person’s needs and goals, a treatment plan will be put in place to reflect this.

Having treated many patients with a combination of Electrolysis and local anaesthetic, Caroline knows first-hand the difference that this can make and is so happy to be able to continue to offer this for so many people.

We hope to be able to welcome you to the new TransCare Electrolysis Centre soon!
